The Victorian Health Complaints Commissioner issues the following General Health Service Warning Statement under section 87 of the Health Complaints Act 2016.
On 2 May 2019 I commenced a Commissioner-initiated investigation into Denise Abadee, also trading as ‘The Wellbeing Planet’, ABN 75 748 208 135, 7-12 Horne Street Elsternwick. This followed a number of complaints about the provision of drug and alcohol rehabilitation services at ‘The Wellbeing Planet’.
I believe that Denise Abadee and Craig McDonald, Principal of ‘The Wellbeing Planet’ ABN 75 748 208 135 have contravened the Code of Conduct as set out in Schedule 2 of the Health Complaints Act 2016, and that it is necessary to publish the warning statement to avoid an imminent and serious risk to the life, health, safety or welfare of a person or the public.
In addition to this warning statement, I have also issued Interim Prohibition Orders against Denise Abadee, Craig McDonald and ‘The Wellbeing Planet’ prohibiting them from:
- Advertising, offering or providing any general health services, including, but not limited to, the treatment of addiction to alcohol and other drugs.
- Establishing, directing or otherwise operating any business, (directly or indirectly), that provides any general health services including, but not limited to, the treatment of addiction to alcohol and other drugs.
